Central Library:
Introduction:
Initially the library was housed in the Faculty of Metallurgy and Material Engineering (Now Material Science & Engineering) in September 1993 as the first batch undergraduate student’s induction ceremony was scheduled for October 28, 1993, which houses all the library materials in a single room library to fullfil the students needs. Beside this, the construction of main library building was started and completed in 1996. It is a stately three-storey building, set against the background of brooding and austere hills of Tarbela Dam, houses the Central Library of the Institute now. Its interior design, decor, and furniture create an atmosphere of an intellectual sanctuary wherein the students and faculty can concentrate on their studies. Now its collection comprises of books, eBooks, Journals & eJournals and Audio visual materials rise to reasonable counts having 15 hours access daily and the time extended during examination. It also provide desktop access to different E-databases, GIK eBooks and library catalogue to all the readers at the campus on their desk. The library also provide Wi-Fi facility to access the net, a furnished seminar room and is fully air conditioned. To share resources through inter-library loans and exchange of data-base information, it is electronically linked with all prominent institutions of science and technology in the country.
